Encourage concern provides vulnerable children and young people with a safe and nurturing environment in which to live when they cannot live at home. Foster concern provides protection for children and young people aged 017 years of age when their families are struggling to manage their protection and healthy being. Brief term carers provide a child or young person with a unchanging deposit to live for anywhere from three weeks to two years. During this time the carer ensures the child is healthy supported, nurtured and cared for. Does the kid see their parents or other family members while they are in care? During this financial year, cabs Kinship Protection program supported over 140 families in our local region, our program offered information advice for kinship carers, family services and kinship placement support. To families that are caring for their children without the involvement of kid concern services (Family Support Services). The Leaving Concern program is designed to assist young people who are either preparing to transition from care, or those who have left State care, regardless of whether it was a residential or home based placement. The Leaving Concern Program is available to help young people, up to the age of 21 years, to promote them through these challenges, once they have left the Child Protection or Out of Home Concern system. The Leaving Care program is another example of cabs engaging with the local community through the work undertaken by the mentoring program. cabs operates three (3) purpose built residential houses, all are based in Ballarat to bear fully staffed care for up to 4 children and young people in each house. Over the preceding three years, the encourage carers have supported the child to maintain a definite relationship with her parents, and they have attended monthly concern team meetings to produce informative and uptodate information on the progressive development of the child. When the decision was made that the kid would not be returning to her parents’ care, the foster carers agreed to be assessed for their suitability to concern for the kid permanently. The program continues to grow through the development of strong professional links and collaboration with service providers in the Central Highlands area including local government, Indigenous services, family services and the state government’s kid care and family services programs. Families First receives referrals only from the kid care program in the Central Highlands region to produce intensive, brief term labor with families, where children are considered to be at high risk of removal from their families, or where there are plans to return children to parental care.
