This is achieved by: Providing participating students with an immersive experience of behaving and learning as a 1850s child on the Victorian goldfields, with a view to deepening their understanding of the educational and social conditions of the time and Preserving an genuine atmosphere in a safe and supportive environment that stimulates learning and good behavior. Sovereign Hill is a living museum with working exhibits brought to life by costumed characters and horses. Australia’s foremost outdoor museum, Sovereign Hill recreates Ballarat’s beginning ten years behind the discovery of gold in 1851 when thousands of international adventurers rushed to the Australian goldfields in search of fortune.
