UBS Dispensaries is a notforprofit, community based organization running nineteen pharmacies (including three Melbourne based pharmacies), three Medical centers, a gift shop, a day spa healthy being center and a Pilates yoga studio, throughout Western Victoria, Australia. Who we are UBS is run by an elected Board of Directors and is owned by its members. While the business must be economically sound, profit is not the major objective. The income UBS generates is directed back to members in the form of attractive discounts, unused facilities and member services. Mrs Clark has a long experience in community based organizations. Mrs rivet is General Counsel for Ambulance Victoria (AV), having commenced with AV in 2003 and also previously worked in various areas whilst in private legal practice. Earlier to his retirement from fulltime management duties, Mr Schrader owned and operated his own printing company and is actively involved in community work. Mr Dixon has 36 years’ of corporate financeaccountingtreasury and company secretarial experience. Virginia is currently active as an Education and Training Consultant. Earlier to 2008 Virginia had 10 years in various senior education roles at the University of Ballarat, 10 years at MB, cafe as a teacher and education manager and 10 years as a secondary school teacher. Virginia has expansive experience as a Director on education boards across all sectors and has been a Director on the Ballarat Health Services Board since 2009. David is a retired health service executive who was previously the CEO of Hepburn Health Service, with extensive expertise in financial management and health service management. UBS aims to improve the health of our members and the local community. UBS Dispensaries was formed in 1880 with the first dispensary opening in 1881. The packed story of UBS Dispensaries’ history is shown in time line format at the entrance to the Bridge Mall pharmacy. When UBS was formed in 1880 there was but one employee of the organization. Treloar was an experienced dispenser earlier arriving in Ballarat and had already begun exploring a keen interest in health science including further scrutinize in biology with a particular focus on microscopy. Treloar’s management of the dispensary ensured his workload increased rapidly and in 1881 he asked the Committee for the assistance of a lad to which they agreed and employ an Assistant, Mr bowl. At the conclusion of his career, Treloar was prominently regarded within the medical profession as a pioneer in the treatment of various diseases including cancer and lupus through the development of Bray technology. Mr Thomas Reid Treloar was a visionary health professional, with a passion for theater and the gentleman who was engaged to first construct the business we know today as UBS Dispensaries. As a community owned health care organization, UBS aims to produce services, products and facilities for the earnings of the local community. UBS also aims to put money back into local community groups and organizations in the form of sponsorship and donations. Potent community partnerships are extremely imperative to UBS.
